This weekend, the Collingwood Foundation, together with the Club’s community partners Coles and the Salvation Army (Project 614), are raising funds for the Magpie Nest Program.
In an incredible show of support, Commanding Officer of the Salvation Army, Major Brendan Nottle will be sleeping rough at AIA Vitality Centre to shine a light on Victorians doing it tough.
Coles will be matching donations across the entire weekend of Round 20.
The Magpie Army are encouraged to check out several activations that will be held at AIA Vitality Centre this weekend to help raise funds for the cause. Coles will be hosting a BBQ and there will be plenty of activities for the kids. From a games zone, face painting, live music and more.

Funds raised during the dedicated round will go towards supporting the Magpie Nest Café; a first point of call for many of Melbourne’s homeless, and the Magpie Nest Program which provides housing for those who are experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence and some who have recently left incarceration.

The impact a donation can have:
$5 Provides a toasted sandwich and a coffee from a convenience store
$10 Provides a hot three-course meal at the Magpie Nest Café or one of the houses
$20 Myki cards and top ups
$30 Provides a warm blanket for one of our women sleeping rough
$50 Covers the cost of medications (even on PBS, medication costs for a family requiring regular medications can be unaffordable)
$100 Covers the cost for a night of accommodation in a crisis motel
$500 Provides new bedding for a family who have escaped a Domestic Violence situation
$5000 Assists with fitting out one of our Magpie Nest Houses
$100,000 Helps expand the services at the Magpie Nest Café and help more Victorian’s doing it so tough this year.
All donations to the Collingwood Foundation over $2 are tax deductible.
What is the Magpie Nest Program?
Magpie Nest is a partnership between Collingwood and the Salvation Army (Project 614) that provides housing, meals and other wrap around services to those Victorians that are doing it tough.
Supporting 41 houses in Melbourne, with over 120 adults and children accommodated. Half of these houses are occupied by only women and children.
What is the Magpie Nest Cafe?
Over 10,000 free meals are served at the Magpie Nest café each month. The Magpie Nest café is operated by the Salvation Army (Project 614), with the support of Collingwood, and is a first point of call for many of Melbourne’s homeless.
The Café’s staff are a team comprised of volunteers and community members who are passionate about addressing homelessness across Victoria. Staff and players of the Collingwood Football Club and Coles staff regularly volunteer their time at the café.
Coles has been a partner of Collingwood Football Club Foundation since 2018. More than 400 Coles team members volunteered at the Magpie Nest last year, contributing over 2,500 hours to help prepare and serve meals to vulnerable Victorians.
