Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided an injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 20 clash against Richmond on Sunday.
AVAILABLE THIS WEEK:
Jakob Ryan
Defender Jakob Ryan will make his return from a calf injury suffered in the Magpies’ Round 14 VFL clash. Ryan will be available for selection after missing the last three weeks.
TO BE ASSESSED THIS WEEK:
Lachie Schultz
Forward Lachie Schultz will be available for Sunday’s clash should he complete a contact training session this week. The Magpies’ equal second leading goalkicker sustained a concussion in Round 18 and has successfully moved through the AFL’s concussion protocols.
Charlie Dean
Defender Charlie Dean will also be assessed this week ahead of a hopeful return from concussion. The 23-year-old sustained a concussion in last week’s VFL clash and will be available for selection should he complete contact training this week.
OTHER UPDATES:
Nathan Kreuger
Forward Nathan Kreuger has entered the AFL’s concussion protocols after sustaining a head knock during the first quarter of Collingwood’s Round 19 clash against Hawthorn. Kreuger will continue to work with the Club’s medical team as he works through the protocols.
Beau McCreery
Small forward Beau McCreery is expected to return next week after progressing into team skills training last week. He will complete more team training and skills this week and over the weekend will look to complete full match loads. He is set to be available for Round 21.
Tom Mitchell
Tom Mitchell is making positive progressions in his recovery from a foot injury after the midfielder underwent a download period over the last 10 days. The 31-year-old is now running with restricted body weight on the anti-gravity treadmill and should he complete a week’s worth of training, will look to progress to outdoor running in the coming weeks.
Brody Mihocek
Forward Brody Mihocek has been able to complete lower body weights and is allowed to sweat, following his pectoral surgery. Mihocek will maintain this for the next two weeks, with his expected return timeframe seven to nine weeks away.
Oscar Steene
Ruckman Oscar Steene has been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season as his recovery from a toe injury continues. The 201cm ruck hasn’t undergone any setbacks in his recovery program but hasn’t been able to increase his training loads. He will now turn his focus to being able to return full fitness for the 2025 pre-season.
Aiden Begg
Ruck Aiden Begg is on the verge of his first outdoor running session, an exciting development for the 21- year-old who continues his recovery from a season ending knee injury.
