Rookie Pie outed with knee injury
Collingwood has confirmed that promising defender Jack Frost will miss the next 5-6 weeks with a knee injury.
Frost, who played his first two senior games earlier this season, damaged his posterior cruciate ligament midway through the final quarter while playing for Collingwood’s VFL team against Williamstown on Sunday.

Ironically, Williamstown was that club with whom Frost cut his teeth as a key defender prior to being added onto Collingwood’s rookie list last December.
“Unfortunately for Jack, he will miss the next five to six weeks with a posterior cruciate injury,” Director of Football Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au.
“It’s an interruption to his season, after a good start to his career with us, but we’re very confident he will be fit and playing some good football in the second half of the season.”
Frost was selected in all four of Collingwood’s NAB Cup matches earlier this year and made his senior debut against North Melbourne in round one.
He also featured in the loss to Hawthorn at the MCG a fortnight later and has been a solid contributor in his four VFL games thus far.
In other injury news, Ben Johnson is set to finally return from calf soreness after spending three weeks on the sidelines. Fellow veteran Ben Hudson also has the green light to make his return after sitting out the weekend’s fixtures with leg soreness.
Senior trio Nick Maxwell (fractured wrist), Dayne Beams (quad) and Clinton Young (hamstring) are all a fortnight away from resuming, as is draftee Tim Broomhead.
The South Australian teenager has not yet been sighted in a Collingwood jumper owing to Glandular Fever. He was placed on the long-term injury list prior to the home and away season, paving the way for mature age rookie Sam Dwyer to be elevated onto the senior list.
Rookie pair Kyle Martin (leg) and Adam Oxley (hip) will undergo tests before determining their availability.
Collingwood’s VFL team will not play this week as a result of the State of Origin match between the VFL and the WAFL in Northam, Western Australia. Its next match is scheduled for May 18 against Geelong at Victoria Park.
