2023 Premiership Captain Darcy Moore will continue to lead Collingwood in 2024. Congratulations also to Isaac who joins the group this season. Isaac is a well-rounded individual who not only demonstrates maturity but has also grown as a person and player over these last few seasons. We look forward to him continuing to learn and step up as a leader in 2024. “All four of these players have a wealth of experience between them and they all live by our key Club values both on and off the field. “Whilst this group of players will lead from the front, we know that other players who don’t hold a formal leadership title will continue to play a key role in driving our standards as we head into our next campaign.” The appointment of the Club’s leaders is led by the program. The process incorporates values and leadership qualities on and off the field. The squad and key senior staff nominate and vote on candidates before a final recommendation is put forward to the Club’s Board for approval.
With the news announced at this evening’s Season Launch, 28-year-old Moore will enter his second season at the helm of the Pies’ leadership group. The premiership defender was presented with his second All-Australian blazer last year. Rounding out the leadership group is Jeremy Howe, Brayden Maynard and Isaac Quaynor who will all serve as vice-captains. 2024 will mark Howe and Maynard’s seventh and second season retrospectively as leaders, while Quaynor is a fresh addition to the group. Howe averaged the second-highest marks per game for the side in 2023 and recorded a season-high disposals (24) during last year’s Grand Final. Maynard, who is set to play 200 games this season, finished in equal-second place for the Club’s E.W. Copeland Trophy in 2023. Quaynor, who turned 24 earlier this year, comes off a career-best season with the half-back receiving his first All-Australian Squad selection, while also finishing in sixth place in the Club’s E.W. Copeland count. “On behalf of the Club, we’d like to congratulate Darcy, Jeremy and Brayden on their re-appointment as leaders,” Collingwood’s GM Football Graham Wright said. “Moore set to steer Pies in 2024
