Ruckman Josh Fraser, who played 200 AFL games for Collingwood, was acquired by the Gold Coast Suns on Thursday.

Out of contract at the end of the 2010 season, Fraser joins seven other players to be snapped up by the Suns for season 2011.

The 28-year-old managed just nine matches this year including notching his 200th game in the final round of the home-and-away season.

The club thanks Fraser for his service and wishes him the best in his new home up north.

Fraser will join former teammate Shane O'Bree, who is now looking after the midfield as an assistant coach.

The loss of Fraser means Collingwood will be compensated by the AFL with a pick(s) in the upcoming drafts.

Fraser profile

Drafted with the first overall pick in the 1999 AFL Draft from the Murray under 18s, Fraser made his AFL debut in round one of the 2000 season, and carried the Magpies’ ruck division for most of the decade. He played an important role in the club's grand final years of 2002 and 2003, and enjoyed arguably his best season in 2006, when he played all 23 matches and finished a career-high fourth in the Copeland Trophy voting. 2009 was one of Fraser’s best seasons, when he averaged 17 disposals and 17 hitouts per game in 17 matches. Fraser booted 156 career goals, including a single-season high of 37 in 2002.
