Collingwood Head Coach Craig McRae has confirmed tall Billy Frampton will play in Saturday’s AFL Grand Final.

The 26-year-old has played 15 games for the Pies since arriving at the Club in last year’s trade period, however, has not played in either of Collingwood’s two finals so far.

Not only will it be Frampton’s first Grand Final, but it will be his first final of any kind.

Speaking to SEN, McRae confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m comfortable to say to the footy world that Billy will play,” he said.

“I told him yesterday afternoon and we’re excited for what he can do for us.

“He can play second ruck so he gives us good flexibility for our team.

“For everything heartache story there’s an opportunity and Bill gets that.”

McRae told Frampton yesterday after the Club's main training session, saying he had hoped to keep it under wraps for as long as possible until Jeremy Howe sensed the news immediately after the pair's meeting.

It will be the former Adelaide and Port Adelaide player's first game since Round 24. He has played both of Collingwood's two games against Brisbane this year and will play across all parts of the ground as a genuine utility.

McRae wouldn't confirm the sub for the weekend, saying that it is something that will be decided following Thursday's open training.
