Scott Pendlebury felt like he was watching Dane Swan when he attended Friday night’s Qualifying Final between Richmond and Geelong.
Swan-reincarnated had the tattoos to match, the burst-away speed and the same devastating ability to leave opponents in his wake.
The man in question? Richmond’s superstar Dustin Martin.
“I thought ‘this is watching Swanny all over again’,” Pendlebury said on Collingwood Media podcast ‘Jock and Journo’.
“The amount of key moments where Dusty made a sloppy bit of play look clean when it hit his hands was phenomenal.”

Martin has been the centre of attention in the football world in 2017, thanks to constant contract talks and being the recipient of numerous league-wide awards.
He continued his outstanding form with 28 touches and seven tackles as the Tigers broke away from the Cats in the first week of the 2017 finals series.
As Pendlebury watched the game from the stands, a number of traits reminded him of 2011 Brownlow Medallist Swan.
“I just think the ability to win one-on-one footy, to make something out of nothing and they both win the footy in the pack,” the Collingwood captain listed.
“Dusty has clearly got a better don’t argue than Swanny but Swanny had one where he could push people out.”
Swan may currently be on the other side of the world, but even he found time to appreciate Martin’s performance in his own unique way.
You Wouldn't believe that we decided not to sleep last Night so we could watch @DustinMartin4 do his thing. Love ya ❤️
