As our season comes to a close, we wanted to send a note to all Members and fans to say a sincere thank you for your support of AFLW this year.
Our progress in season seven wouldn’t have been possible without your passion and dedication to our Club – whether you attended your first AFLW game this season or whether you’ve been cheering on the sidelines since day one – we remain grateful.
This year has featured two AFLW seasons and while it has proved challenging at times, we have been fortunate to reach the Finals Series for the fourth-consecutive time under the leadership of our Senior Coach, Steve Symonds.
We remain absolutely determined to not only reach finals but hopefully achieve the ultimate success in the not-too-distant future.
There have been so many memorable moments in 2022 and it was truly great to see you all in the stands week in, week out, supporting us every step of the way.
Season Seven saw many moments of individual and team brilliance that included Lauren Butler booting her first AFLW goal against the Bombers after 32 AFLW games, teenager Eliza James becoming the first player to kick four goals in a final (including one that is arguably the goal of the year), Stacey Livingstone consistently performing as our key defensive cog and the combined offensive pressure of Chloe Molloy and Jaimee Lambert in the midfield.
We are grateful to have shared other special moments with you this year including the celebration of 50-game milestones of several players and watching Imogen Evans, Charlotte Taylor and Emily Smith make their AFLW debut.
To the supporters who travelled to Adelaide – and to those based in SA – thanks for your support in our semi-final over the weekend. The game really had it all and the wild weather is definitely something we will be talking about for years to come.
We don’t take for granted the opportunity we get at Collingwood, to represent the black-and-white army at the elite level and to give back to community and to people who love the game.
We wish to also thank our coaches, staff and volunteers at the Club for their work which is valued and appreciated by all of us.
To our partners – AIA Australia, KFC, Sharp Extensive IT and Nike – thank you for your support.
We cannot wait for the next AFLW season – we look forward to seeing you all again in 2023 and welcoming new faces to our games.
Thank you and Go Pies!
Steph Chiocci, on behalf of the AFLW playing group.
