Eliza James etched her name in the history books on Sunday when she became the first AFLW player to kick four goals in a final.
The 19-year-old was pivotal in our elimination final win over the Bulldogs, booting three goals in the first half and finishing with 13 disposals, two marks and four majors.
When asked about her record-setting performance, James offered a typically casual response.
"I thought it was pretty cool," she said.
"I was proud of myself, especially after that first miss in the first quarter.
"Normally after a miss like that I get into my head a bit and I'm hard on myself.
"I was proud that I didn't let that disturb my game and when I kicked my first goal it was a big confidence boost."
The zippy forward received a Rising Star nomination last season and quickly became a regular starter after making her debut in round one.
A strong marking target with intensity at ground level, her speed adds another dimension to our forward line.
"My first season was more about learning and settling into the cub, this season I feel more comfortable in the role I play," James said.
"I'm keen to develop as a player.
"Everyone here (at the club) helps me so much - Chloe Molloy and Sabrina Frederick spend lots of time with me.
"When we work on our individual craft at training, set shots and snaps on goal was a big focus of mine heading into the finals."
She added that one specific piece of advice from Frederick has improved her accuracy.
"Sabs told me to picture her on the goal line when I'm lining up for a set shot," James said.
"I pretend I'm just kicking to her."
James grew up playing footy under the guidance of her dad, who was her junior coach at St Peters Football Club.
"He is my biggest influence, he's always at my games giving me the best feedback," she said.
"Dad is the first person I call before and after every game - he's a really big support.
"I played 100 games at St Peters before my time at the Chargers."
It was during her time at the Oakleigh Chargers that she met future Collingwood teammate Charlotte Taylor.
The pair formed a close bond immediately and it's rare to spot one without the other around the club.
"We hit it off and we won a flag together at Oakleigh," Jame said.
"She brings out a different side of me, I love her to bits."
