Collingwoodfc.com.au has published the key stats from Sunday's 55-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG.

The Magpies led for much of the first half but conceded 15 second half goals and could only manage six of their own as the Hawks romped to their second win by 50 or more points in as many weeks.

Noteworthy
- It's almost a cliche to describe Ben Hudson as a 'veteran ruckman', but when you are 34-years-old and debuting for your fourth club, the tag is impossible to shrug. It didn't affect him one bit. He ended the day with a game-high 25 hitouts, 22 possessions (the fourth most of any Collingwood player) and kicked a goal, which is particularly notable considering the fact that he has never kicked more than four goals in a season since debuting in 2004.
- Fox Footy tweeted after the match that, in its past four outings against Collingwood, the Hawks have kicked scores of 145, 137, 138 and now 135. What is it about the Hawks that allows them to score freely against us?
- In his first 16 matches, Jamie Elliott could only manage six goals. In his past two, he has kicked a combined total of eight. Pies fans will be hoping that it's the sign of a player that has come of age.
- Ben Johnson kept Cyril Rioli goalless and gave the Magpies plenty of run up the middle. He also laid seven tackles; a feat he had only achieved once in his first 234 matches. For the record, that was against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in round 18, 2006, en route to his second J.J. Joyce Trophy as runner up in the Copeland Trophy.
- Collingwood had six players that recorded more handballs than kicks. One such player was Jarryd Blair (10 kicks, 13 handballs), who provided some resistance against Sam Mitchell in tight around the stoppages.
- The match was the first time that Mitchell did not manage 30 or more disposals against Collingwood since round 4, 2010. In the seven matches in between (and in several before that), Mitchell has been a thorn in Collingwood's side. But it wasn't as if he fell from his lofty standards on Sunday. He still used the ball on 27 occasions and laid six important tackles.
- When Nathan Brown kicked truly after receiving a 50m penalty midway through the final quarter, it was his first goal since round six, 2009 against North Melbourne. To put that into perspective, it was less than a week after David Zaharakis sank the Magpies on ANZAC Day and the likes of Anthony Corrie, Jaxson Barham and Jack Anthony were running around in the black and white. In the 41 games in between, Brown only troubled the scorers twice, kicking behinds in round 10, 2009 and round one earlier this year.
- While Ben Reid was temporarily off the field with a jarred knee, Tyson Goldsack was summoned from the forward pocket to stand Lance Franklin. Nathan Buckley obviously has a long memory. Goldsack had previously acquitted himself well against Franklin in his sixth game in round 13, 2007, and again during patches of Collingwood's loss in round 18, 2008. Although Buckley didn't play in either match, he clearly had them tucked away in the back of his mind.
