Collingwood could blood more youth with three potential debutants named in its squad of 25 for the round 16 clash with North Melbourne.

Lachlan Keeffe, Tom Young and Paul Seedsman are all in the mix to play their first AFL matches at the MCG on Sunday afternoon. Midfielder/forward John McCarthy rounds out the possible inclusions.

Key forward Chris Dawes, who could miss around six matches with a broken knuckle, is the only player so far ruled out from the side that beat Hawthorn by 41 points. The final 22 will be named on Friday afternoon.

Keeffe, 21, is an athletic 204 centimetre former elite junior soccer player who arrived at the club from Gympie in Queensland as a non-registered rookie at the end of 2008.

He earned elevation to the senior list at the end of 2010 after impressing playing for the Magpies’ VFL side. In 2011 Keeffe has been named an emergency a number of times after performing well in a key defensive role throughout the Magpies’ successful NAB Cup campaign.

Young, meanwhile, is a former New South Wales scholarship holder at the club, and is in his first year on the senior list after winning the best-and-fairest for the Magpies’ VFL team in 2010 as an 18-year-old.

The 191-centimetre utility, who was recruited from Wollondilly in NSW and impressed during the NAB Cup as a mobile defensive option, was an emergency for last week’s win over Hawthorn.

Seedsman was recruited from Eastern Ranges under 18s and Caulfield Grammar with the 76th overall pick in the 2010 draft.

He is an athletic 189-centimetre midfielder/flanker who battled injury during the first half of the year, but was one of the Magpies’ best in the VFL last week with 22 possessions and 11 marks in his second game back at that level.

21-year-old McCarthy is in the mix for his sixth game of the season after an impressive showing in the VFL last week. He last played seniors as the substitute in the round 14 win in Sydney.

Last week against the Hawks Luke Rounds became the 1089th player to represent Collingwood since the inception of the VFL in 1897. He was the second player to make his AFL debut for the Magpies this year, after Alex Fasolo (round 12).

Simon Buckley and Andrew Krakouer both played their first games for the Magpies in round one after beginning their AFL careers at Melbourne and Richmond respectively.

After celebrating Nick Maxwell's 150th senior match last weekend, Steele Sidebottom is set to play his 50th game for the club on Sunday.  The 20-year-old was selected by the Magpies with overall pick 11 in the 2008 national draft and is averaging a career high 19.1 disposals in his third season.

North Melbourne has omitted Ben McKinley and Nathan Grima while including Matt Campbell (59 games/ 62 goals), Luke Delaney (6/ 0), Kieran Harper (6/ 4), Shaun Atley (13/ 3) and Cameron Richarson (5/ 0).

The Magpies are second on the ladder with 12 wins from 13 matches, while the Kangaroos, who lost to St Kilda by nine points last week, are tenth with six wins and eight losses.
