Collingwood has made one change to its team for Friday night’s big clash with the Crows at Adelaide Oval.
Jordan De Goey has been included for his first AFL game of the season. He replaces Taylor Adams, who suffered a hamstring injury during the training session at the Holden Centre on Wednesday.
For the second week in succession the emergencies are Jarryd Blair, Chris Mayne, Alex Fasolo and Brody Mihocek.
De Goey, who has been named on a half-forward flank, returns after his pre-season was interrupted by a club-imposed suspension and a hamstring problem.
The 22-year-old was outstanding in Collingwood’s huge VFL win over the Northern Blues last weekend.
Sensational Steele
Midfielder Steele Sidebottom has been in career-best form in the opening three rounds of the season. The 27-year-old was outstanding against Carlton last weekend, racking up 34 disposals and kicking three goals. Given the depth in the Crows’ midfield, he’ll need to produce a similar performance if the Pies are to pull off an upset victory.
Pies looking to break AO drought
Collingwood is 0-4 at the Adelaide Oval, having lost twice to the Crows and twice to Port Adelaide over the past four seasons. Nathan Buckley acknowledged in his press conference on Wednesday that the crowd noise is so loud that it can be hard to communicate with teammates. But Buckley also said the Pies were not fazed in the slightest by their previous performances at the venue.

Who gets Betts?
After going goalless in the first two rounds, Adelaide small forward Eddie Betts returned to form with three goals against St Kilda last weekend. Brayden Maynard appears likely to get the first crack at keeping Betts under control. Maynard did well on Betts the last time Collingwood played the Crows at Adelaide Oval, which was in round 17, 2016.
