It marks the club’s equal second longest ever finals streak, matching the records set by the Collingwood sides of 1915-1922 and 1925-1932.
The Magpies will need to play in the next three finals series if they are to equal the all-time club record of 11 straight finals campaigns set by the teams of 1901-1911.
There are only two other clubs to have achieved the same feat. Melbourne reached 11 consecutive finals series between 1954 and 1964 and Carlton repeated the dose between 1978 and 1988.
It is the longest streak of any team currently in the finals. Geelong has played in seven straight finals series and in nine of the last 10 (it missed the top eight in 2006).
The most experienced finals player on Collingwood’s list is Alan Didak, who has played in 22 since 2002. He is still some way behind Gordon Coventry who played in a club record 31 finals. Harry Collier (27), Albert Collier (26) and Tony Shaw (23) round out the top four.
The recently retired Ben Johnson played in 20 between 2002 and 2012.
