For the second week in a row, Collingwood has had to use its 'get out of jail free' card to secure a dramatic five-point victory over Adelaide on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon at Adelaide Oval.

After narrowly escaping what would have been a shock loss to North Melbourne last week, the Pies trailed for much of the match against a spirited Crows side before stepping up a gear in the last quarter to secure the 14.7 (91) to 13.8 (86)

Scott Pendlebury, in game number 350, was influential across the ground and finished with 21 disposals, 12 tackles and one goal.

First-year gun Nick Daicos was outstanding for the winners, clocking up 40 disposals and three goals to be a clear best on ground.

Rory Laird (31 disposals, 20 tackles) and Taylor Walker (five goals, five marks) willed the Crows on all day, but couldn't quite get them over the line on their home deck.

More to come.
