Magpies hit 200,000 Facebook likes
Collingwood says thanks to its 200,000 fans on Facebook
Launched in early 2009, the Collingwood Facebook page has become a one-stop shop for fans to soak up all the news, photos and discussion about the mighty Magpies.
Like Collingwood on Facebook now.
The most liked post in the 2012 season so far is the image of a triumphant Dane Swan seconds after Collingwood clinched the dramatic ANZAC Day blockbuster. The post received 14,301 likes and was shared by 741 fans.
Our Facebook page has also paid tribute to our loyal fans with our Facebook Fan of the Week competition. Fans are encouraged to email through photos of themselves dressed up in their Collingwood gear with the best shots incorporated in our cover photo each week alongside an image of the Magpie players standing Side by Side.
Another popular segment on our official page has been Facebook Mondays, which offers great deals from the Club Shop that are exclusive to our Facebook fans.
One of the newest segments added to our Facebook page in 2012 is the Collingwood Cartoon. Jack Chadwick, our resident cartoonist and a diehard Magpie fan, submits a humorous cartoon each Monday reflecting the result and the major players from the weekend’s match.

On match days, the club has also been snapping the tens of thousands of Collingwood supporters who flock to the game each week in their droves and uploading the photos to our Facebook page before the bounce. The passion, enthusiasm and colour our fans bring to the table have made the weekly photo albums a must-see for all members of the Magpie Army.
Changes to Facebook have allowed us to add historical events to our new timeline to better reflect the moments that have mattered most in Collingwood’s history.
We have put our Facebook fans in the driver’s seat with the ability to regularly vote in a series of polls to decide which moment is next entered into our timeline.
With all of this and so much more, it’s obvious why the Collingwood Facebook page is the running pulse of the Magpie Army.
Make sure you ‘like’ the club’s page to join the community, and suggest the page to all of your like-minded Collingwood friends and family.
Go Pies!
