> Watch Mick Malthouse address the media in his weekly press conference

COLLINGWOOD coach Mick Malthouse says there’s no chance now-former Sydney Swan Barry Hall will play in the black and white while he’s in charge of the Magpies.

Hall announced he was immediately quitting the club on Tuesday after a series of brain-snaps this season which have not only cost him suspension, but arguably cost his team premiership points.

Upon quitting, the power forward said he couldn’t guarantee similar indiscretions would not occur in the future.

While most clubs canvassed have been reluctant to talk up any prospect of taking on the 250-game goalkicker, Malthouse’s view has been the most damning, saying he wouldn’t give the prospect of recruiting Hall “two seconds’” thought.

“If Paul Roos and Brett Kirk can’t the get the best out of a bloke, and he’s prepared to move with those blokes – who I have the highest admiration for – then I am not about to take that on,” Malthouse said when asked about Hall on Thursday.

Malthouse also said Hall would have to live with constant scrutiny should a Victorian-based club opt to give his career another lifeline.

“The Sydney press are pretty lenient … I’d don’t think (the Melbourne media) would be leaving him alone.

“If he comes to Melbourne, good luck!”
