Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy is likely to avoid surgery to repair his right posterior cruciate ligament after injuring it on ANZAC Day.

Grundy will have a further consults with specialists this week and go into a knee brace for the next month. Once he comes out of the brace, a return to play will become clearer.

Forward Nathan Kreuger re-injured his shoulder against Essendon, upon consulting a specialist he will undergo surgery later this week for a reconstruction. He was subbed out of the game during the first quarter on Monday.

In the VFL win over the Bombers, Tom Wilson played out the game, but pulled up with a sore back. He will be unavailable this week and monitored over the next 7-10 days.

Jordan Roughead has begun non-contact training after finger surgery and will aim for a return in round 9 or 10.

Jamie Elliott is waiting on clearance from the surgeon to begin low level rehabilitation, a return to play will be determined next week.
