A Daicos running around the MCG in a Collingwood jumper.
After 24 years of waiting, it’s about to happen again.
Peter Daicos played his final game in the Black and White on July 10, 1993. On Saturday, his son Josh will be the Magpies’ second debutant of the 2017 season.
More than just a son of a gun, Daicos has been awarded his spot based on merit.
The lively forward has played 14 games at VFL level in his first season at the Holden Centre.
The 18-year-old has kicked eight goals and has a disposal average of 16.2 touches per game as he edges closer to an AFL debut.
A taste of senior football has seemed increasingly likely as the weeks have gone by. Daicos has been named on extended benches numerous times, and travelled to Adelaide to be on standby as an emergency last weekend.

BACK TOGETHER AGAIN
Daicos and fellow father-son selection Callum Brown have been linked by Collingwood their entire lives.
After spending years together in the Daicos Academy, the pair were teammates for Vic Metro last year’s U18 National Championships.
The ultimate dream was realised for both young players when they were drafted to the Magpies’ together last October.
After sharing a field early this season for the VFL Magpies, Brown and Daicos will emulate their famous fathers and pull on Collingwood AFL jumpers together for the first time on Saturday afternoon.
A look at this week’s half forward line will wet the appetite of any long-time Magpie fan – three father-sons Side by Side: Josh Daicos, Darcy Moore and Callum Brown.

FATHERHOOD CALLS FOR GOLDSACK
General soreness will see defender Tyson Goldsack ruled out against the Cats on Saturday.
While not a direct replacement for the Goldsack, Josh Smith will occupy a position in the backline as a small defender as he comes into the side to play his 12th game of the season.
No player would ever volunteer to be left out of the side, Goldsack’s soreness may have come at a convenient time.
The 30-year-old’s partner Chelsea is expecting to give birth to the couple’s first child in the coming days.
BROOMHEAD’S FORM TOO GOOD TO IGNORE
41 disposals and three goals at VFL game is without a doubt worthy of a promotion to the senior team.
Tim Broomhead was dominant against North Ballarat at Victoria Park last Sunday.
The South Australian won the ball at will, while also having an impact on the scoreboard.
“He’s clearly been a really good player for us over the last two or three weeks,” VFL coach Jared Rivers said on Tuesday.
“He deserves his AFL opportunity.”
While Broomhead will no doubt enjoy another opportunity to impress on the big stage, his selection means he will now become ineligible for VFL finals.

Daicos one of three inclusions
Josh Daicos will debut for Collingwood after being named as one of three inclusions into the side for Saturday's clash with Geelong.
