2010 began well for the 2008 Copeland Trophy runner-up, with Paul Medhurst playing the first seven games including a four-goal haul in the round one triumph over the Bulldogs, before successive three-goal outings in rounds six and seven. But a foot injury halted his campaign and while he returned to the side in round 12, he was unable to cement his spot and managed 10 matches for the season, despite regularly dominating at VFL level. Medhurst announced his retirement at the end of the season despite having a year to run on his contract.
2010 highlights
Round 1 v Bulldogs: It was vintage Medhurst as the mercurial West Australian booted four goals in the Magpies’ thumping of the flag favourites.
Round 7 v North Melbourne: Bagged three majors to go with 13 touches and five tackles in the Pies’ big win over the Roos.
