Caitlin Bunker will continue her captaincy of the VFLW side in 2022 and will be joined by three vice-captains; Marla Neal, Sarah King and Katelyn Lee.

Bunker, a 2019 premiership player and vice-captain, is excited to take on the role as captain for the second year running.

“It is really exciting to see what we have ahead of us with such a special group of girls particularly after the cancellation of the Grand Final last year,” Bunker said.

“It’s lit a fire for all of us and I think all the people that have joined the group have added something new which is really exciting.

“The fact that we’ve kept most of the same group together lead by Chloe is a testament to the culture we have at the Pies”.

The vice-captains include foundation players and previous vice-captains Sarah King and Katelyn Lee and are joined by Marla Neal who was part of the emerging leaders group last year.

All three players have proven their admirable leadership qualities and are an integral part of the side.

Collingwood VFLW Head Coach Chloe McMillian believes all of the leaders demonstrate elite leadership qualities and set the standards for the rest of the group.

“Voted by all, it is clear that these girls are driving our standards high, have a team first mentality and lead by example on and off the field,” McMillian said.

Young gun’s Georgia Ricardo and Trish Cowan will form the emerging leader’s group.

McMillian believes these young talented players have something special to offer to help support the senior leaders both on and off the field. The rebel VFLW premiership season kicks off this Sunday at Victoria Park.
