IF THE JOINT IS ROCKIN’ DON’T BOTHER KNOCKIN’

Or to put it another way………

AN OPEN LETTER TO RODNEY EADE

Before we get started on this week’s waffle I’d like to get a little Cambodian on yuz and have a quick Pot Poll.

Hands up who DIDN’T get more excited than a skunk in a Werribee sou’ westerly when the stoush busted loose like a fat man’s belt buckle?

Just what I thought. Nobody.

And who didn’t roar louder than a Hawaiian shirt when Fev hit the ground quicker than food from David Hasselhoff’s drunkem gob?

Surprise, surprise! Still nobody.

Seeing Maxi and Chris (I still need a grouse nickname!) Bryan fly off the bench quicker than loose nuts on Ikea furniture was simply exhilarating.

I was out of my seat not because I was more amped than a Motorhead gig but because the mad Magpie granny, bless her heart, in front of me was up quicker than you could say Peter North and I didn’t want to miss out on any of the action.

A good rivalry will do that to you.

The coach of our next opponent reckons this is what’s holding us back though!

Frankly, I don’t really care what he thinks because rolling the Tiges, Bombers and Blues in the space of six weeks has me more wrapped than a crap toy in pass the parcel at a kid’s party.

What Rocket fails to understand is that if the Croatian Sensation’s Steiner Recliner short pass to Beyonce Cloke had come seven days later it would just have been a lucky kick. Thankfully it didn’t, it was against the Blues and has therefore now become FOLKLORE!
A whole generation of Blues supporters are growing up with the constant torment of Mr A. Didak. This fact cheers me up no end Mr R. Eade.

A good rivalry will do that.

This might come as a shock to you Rodney but 77,000 plus people don’t just turn up at the MCG by accident.

A good rivalry will do that.

And given crowds and supporter interest are the lifeblood of the institution you have made a career of Rodney, I’m sure you can appreciate just how important great local rivalries are mate. It just happens that Collingwood seems to have a lot of them. Despite this it also just happens that the Pies are the most successful Victorian team in this current era of interstate dominance. Go figure!

You may be a good coach but you are definitely no scientist Rocket!

But let’s be honest Rod, the Pies and Bullies don’t have much of a rivalry really. In fact it’s one of those lop sided affairs where beating the Woods means more to your lot than our lot. That said I’ll still be gutted if we drop the four points to the Dogs.

A bad rivalry will do that!
