Collingwood has arrived in the USA for the club’s 2009 high altitude training camp in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The team will once again utilise the world-class training facilities at Northern Arizona University for two weeks, including the Skydome, a synthetic field protected by a huge wooden dome and used by the NAU Lumberjacks football team.

After arriving in Flagstaff from Melbourne, via Los Angeles and Phoenix, at about 4pm on Monday afternoon (Arizona time), the team headed straight to NAU’s new outdoor synthetic athletic fields for some solid running under the watchful eye of director of sports science David Buttifant.

As well as training at NAU, over the course of the two-week camp the group will once again hike through the Grand Canyon and trek to the summit of nearby Mt Humphrey, which is over 4000 metres above sea level.

Collingwoodfc.com.au is in Arizona with the team and will bring Magpie fans daily video updates, player interviews and a photo gallery, beginning with Tuesday’s first full day of training, so stay tuned.
