Two of Collingwood’s emerging young talents Trey Ruscoe and Jack Ginnivan have signed contract extensions.
Ruscoe, 19, will remain at the club until the end of 2023 whilst Ginnivan, 18, has committed to a one year deal.
This season Collingwood welcomed 10 first year players – six in the 2020 national draft, two in the rookie draft, and two in the mid-season draft – Ginnivan being one of them.
Nine players debuted in 2021, a promising collection who are a part of a wider group of 20 who are in the 1-3 year phases of their careers.
Ruscoe has played 13 games and kicked seven goals since making his debut last year. He finished the season with aplomb in defence.
Ginnivan debuted in round 19 this year, against Port Adelaide, and went on to play the remaining five games of the season as a small forward and kicked six goals.
Collingwood GM of Football, Graham Wright, said today’s commitment reaffirms the club’s long-term strategy.
“The club is in a phase of bringing together a critical mass of young talent – Trey and Jack are very much a part of this group,” Wright said.
“We are pleased to reward both boys who have displayed great promise in their early football years.”
