It's that time of year again, the spread sheets come out and everyone takes their best guess at predicting who will be the winner of the AFL's most illustrious award: The Brownlow Medal.

Here at the Collingwood Media Team, we've put together our predictions from a Collingwood point of view, to see how well the Pies might poll on Sunday night.

Round 2 v Carlton

Collingwood's fantastic win over the Blues in Round 2 will likely be where we see our first action for the evening. We suspect the industrious Taylor Adams will be odds on to poll the maximum votes against the old rivals. His performance was brilliant: 29 disposals, 18 contested possessions, 13 clearances, 10 score involvements, nine inside 50’s, seven tackles and a goal to top things off.

There were a couple of other star performances that night with Brodie Grundy, Jack Crisp and Jordan De Goey all battling it out for the other spots on the leaderboard.

Crisp's 36 disposals, 788 meters gained and 15 score involvements will be hard to go past.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Taylor Adams - 3 votes
  • Jack Crisp - 2 votes
  • Jordan De Goey* - 1 vote

Round 3 loss v Brisbane

A night we largely don't like to reflect on for too long, however it would be wrong to not highlight some of the great individual performances in the one point loss to the Lions. Despite not getting the four points, Brodie Grundy's performance was on another level: 54 hit outs (21 to advantage), 28 disposals, 18 contested possessions, six tackles and five clearances. He was a class above and we suspect his game will be rewarded with the maximum votes.

There were a couple of defenders who might snag a cheeky vote too, with Jordan Roughead plucking a whopping 17 marks from 20 disposals and Jeremy Howe kicking a goal to go with 22 disposals, nine intercepts, eight marks and seven tackles.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Brodie Grundy - 3 votes
  • Hugh McCluggage (BRIS) - 2 votes
  • Daniel Rich (BRIS) - 1 vote

Round 6 loss v Essendon

Polling votes in losses is always difficult, but there were some pretty solid performances for the Pies on ANZAC day this year. Steele Sidebottom's 30 disposals, 17 contested possessions, 12 tackles, nine clearances and six inside 50's should be enough for him to find his first vote of the season.

22 disposals, four contested marks and four goals from Darcy Cameron was superb, Brodie Grundy was dominant in the ruck, while Jack Crisp and Scott Pendlebury both had 30 disposals. The Bombers also had some star performers.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Darcy Parish (ESS)- 3 votes
  • Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (ESS) - 2 votes
  • Steele Sidebottom - 1 vote

Round 8 win v North Melbourne

A win that ended a five game losing streak for the Pies, came just at the right time. The player on everyone's lips at that point in the season, Darcy Moore, showed that he plays best down back. An incredible, 28 disposals, 19 marks, 11 intercepts and 476 meters gained at 85% disposal efficiency, Moore was a brick wall.

Hard to go past Jordan De Goey's six goals too, he had a whopping nine scoring shots on the night (the most of any Collingwood player this season). Jack Crisp brought his own footy to the game once again, a casual 31 disposals to go with nine marks and 665 meters gained should earn him the final vote of the game.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Darcy Moore - 3 votes
  • Jordan De Goey* - 2 votes
  • Jack Crisp - 1 vote

Round 10 loss v Port Adelaide

Another heart breaking loss against the Power came with several great performers for the Pies. We thought Brodie Grundy was outstanding with 33 hit-outs (10 to advantage), 23 disposals, 14 contested possessions, nine clearances, six score involvements, six inside 50’s, two contested marks and two goals.

The Pies dominated the stat sheet. Jordan Roughead had a career high seven intercept marks, Darcy Moore had 25 disposals and 15 marks and Taylor Adams was vital in the contest with 29 disposals and nine clearances. Add Sidebottom's 27 disposals, Crisp's 26 disposals Mayne's 25 disposals and Poulter's 22 disposals and a goal off the wing, would expect the Pies to poll a few votes here.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Brodie Grundy - 3 votes
  • Robbie Gray (PORT) - 2 votes
  • Darcy Moore - 1 vote

Round 12 win v Adelaide

In contrast to the Port Adelaide game, the Pies weren't significant on the stats sheet despite coming away with the four points against the Crows. It's a pretty simple one to predict here; Jamie Elliott...three votes. His six goals were ultimately the difference in the end as the Crows wasted opportunities in front of goal.

The Crows did have some impressive performances, with Laird's 40 disposals and Seedsman's 27 disposals and two goals likely to take the rest of the votes for that game.

Collingwood Media Prediction Tally

  • Jamie Elliott - 3 votes
  • Rory Laird (ADEL) - 2 votes
  • Paul Seedsman (ADEL) - 2 votes

Round 13 win v Melbourne

A win that will last in the memories of all involved with the Collingwood Football Club, as the Pies upset the red hot Demons in Nathan Buckley's last game as coach. There were incredible performers across the ground, but two stood out as the best: Brayden Maynard and Jordan De Goey.

De Goey had 32 disposals, 17 kicks, 10 score involvements, six clearances (four centre bounce clearances), three goal assists and 447 meters gained. Maynard had 32 disposals, 26 kicks, 13 marks, nine intercepts, two contested marks, five score involvements and 661 meters gained at 90% disposal efficiency. It's a flip of the coin with these two but we've gone with the mighty Jordan De Goey to take the maximum votes here, with Maynard taking two home.

Hard to go past the captain with his 31 disposals and a goal for a vote too.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Jordan De Goey* - 3 votes
  • Brayden Maynard - 2 votes
  • Scott Pendlebury - 1 vote

Round 15 loss v Fremantle

Another one of those frustrating losses, the Pies had some strong performers against Fremantle. Despite the loss, we think there's a good chance the Pies poll a couple of votes.

Brodie Grundy had a great contest against emerging ruckman Sean Darcy. He amassed 27 hit outs (10 to advantage), 22 disposals, seven marks, three contested marks and kicked two goals. Taylor Adams found plenty of the football, he finished the day with 32 disposals, 15 contested possessions, nine inside 50’s and seven clearances. Brayden Maynard also had a great day; 27 disposals, 22 kicks, eight marks, six tackles, 661 meters gained and five intercepts at 89% disposal efficiency.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • David Mundy (FREM) - 3 votes
  • Brodie Grundy - 2 votes
  • Taylor Adams - 1 vote

Round 16 loss v St. Kilda

Jack Steele was unstoppable and will surely get the three votes in round 16, however we think there's a good chance one of Taylor Adams or Jordan De Goey will steal a single vote behind Steele and Luke Dunstan.

De Goey had 32 disposals, 10 score involvements, nine marks,  six inside 50’s and a goal at 78% disposal efficiency.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Jack Steele (STK) - 3 votes
  • Luke Dunstan (STK) - 2 votes
  • Jordan De Goey* - 1 vote

Round 17 win v Richmond

One of the best Collingwood wins of 2021, hands down. The Pies finished with eight goals to one in a steamrolling second half over the reigning premiers. A range of contributors but there were a few that really stood out. Taylor Adams is our pick to take home the three votes, his 31 disposals, 18 contested possessions, 11 clearances (six centre clearances), 10 tackles, eight score involvements, six inside 50’s and 567 meters gained was immense.

The remaining votes are a little harder to distribute but it will be between Brodie Grundy, Jack Crisp and Jordan De Goey. Grundy had 40 hit outs (11 to advantage), 22 disposals, eight score involvements, five tackles and a goal. Crisp had 33 disposals, 11 contested possessions, 10 marks, 10 intercepts and a massive 601 meters gained. While De Goey had 29 disposals, 10 marks, eight score involvements, two goal assists and a goal.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Taylor Adams - 3 votes
  • Brodie Grundy - 2 votes
  • Jordan De Goey* - 1 vote

Round 19 loss v Port Adelaide

A disappointing evening at Marvel Stadium was kept close thanks to the efforts of Jack Crisp. In a night where Port Adelaide showed their class, Crisp had an outstanding game.

His 30 disposals, 13 marks, 10 intercepts and six tackles at 83% disposal efficiency should earn him one vote.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Travis Boak (PORT) - 3 votes
  • Charlie Dixon (PORT) - 2 votes
  • Jack Crisp - 1 vote

Round 20 win v West Coast

It's anyone's guess as to who takes the three votes from this game. A true team performance, the Pies were incredible against the Eagles in round 20.

We've gone with Jordan De Goey to take the three votes here. His 34 disposals, 23 kicks, six score involvements, six inside 50’s and 540 meters gained at 82% disposal efficiency is just too hard to go past. A player that is so damaging and dynamic with the ball in hand, opposition teams just don't win very often when De Goey is playing like that.

Giving out the rest of the votes is just as hard. Steele Sidebottom had 33 disposals, nine score involvements, seven marks and a goal in his game as captain. Jack Crisp chalked up 36 disposals, 10 intercepts, nine marks, five score involvements and 320 meters gained at 89% disposal efficiency. Taylor Adams found it 34 times, with 14 contested possessions, eight clearances (five centre clearances), six score involvements and six marks at 80% disposal efficiency. While Brayden Maynard quietly amassed 30 disposals, 25 kicks, 11 marks, nine intercepts, four score involvements, two contested marks and 401 meters gained at 90% disposal efficiency.

For argument's sake, we've given Sidebottom two votes and Crisp the one.

Collingwood Media Vote Prediction

  • Jordan De Goey* - 3 votes
  • Steele Sidebottom - 2 votes
  • Jack Crisp - 1 vote
