Collingwood’s VFLW side has claimed another impressive win, taking a 74-point victory over the Western Bulldogs in Morwell on Saturday.

The triumph was the Pies' sixth win in a row.

It was all black and white from the very start with the Magpies snapping three goals to none in the opening quarter before continuing on to outscore the visitors in the remaining three terms.

The win was a credit to the Pies’ quick hands around the ball and outstanding kicking accuracy, both to teammates and at goal.

With the Pies taking a 42-point lead at the main break, Bulldog Lauren Dundon was quick to find the goals in the third but this would be the only major the Dogs would see for the match.

Four straight goals in the final quarter put the cherry on top for the Pies, allowing them to walk away victorious, 13.5 (83) to 1.3 (9).

They now sit confidently in top position on the ladder.

Sharni Layton was a standout for the Pies, playing a central role in the ruck.

She acknowledged her team had a clear vision coming up against a tough opponent in the Dogs and was glad the Pies were able to follow through.

“It’s so impressive having girls coming in and out of the team each week and we’re still able to execute the game plan,” Layton told collingwoodfc.com.au.

“That’s a real testament to how hard we’re working at training and also that we are listening to what the coaches are telling us.”

In only her second VFLW game, Layton dominated up forward booting two majors throughout the match.

“I was so excited and it was also good to just get it out of the way because I’ve been so nervous playing football so it’s a nice relief,” Layton admitted.

Jaimee Lambert continued her outstanding performance from round six, piling four goals onto the scoreboard.

Stacey Livingstone had a hard task coming up against former Magpie, Mua Laloifi who returned for her first game since rupturing her ACL last season.

But Livingstone stood up to the challenge, claiming three majors.

Having made the move into the midfield, Sophie Casey proved versatile, providing great assistance around the ball and even managing a long goal early in the third term.

Britt Bonnici was again unstoppable throughout the midfield, consistently offering a great drive to the ball and outstanding speed heading into the Pies forward 50.

Despite the chilly conditions, Layton said her team thoroughly enjoyed playing in front of the Gippsland community.

“It was awesome to play here and we had a really good crowd.”

“It’s always great to get down to Latrobe Valley so young girls can come down and watch us and aspire to play for Collingwood one day.”

The Pies will now have a well-deserved break before returning to face Essendon on Saturday 6th July, 12pm at Windy Hill.
