After a fantastic victory last weekend, a strong VFL line-up will return to take on Sandringham at the Holden Centre on Sunday.

The Pies were 39-point victors in Round 11 and will look to carry that momentum into what will be a tough match-up against Sandringham. The Zebras are also coming off the back of a strong victory last weekend against reigning VFL premiers Richmond.

Among Sandringham’s best players is ruckman Paul Hunter. Hunter will go head to head with Max Lynch, a match-up that should be very entertaining as both players have been in fantastic form. Lynch had an outstanding performance against Frankston last weekend, finishing with 36 hit-outs, 19 disposals and a goal. Amazingly, Hunter matched him on the stats sheet as he too amassed 40 hit-outs, 19 disposals, a goal and 7 clearances.

At Lynch’s toes will be the ever-present Jay Rantall, the industrious Brayden Sier and the promising Finlay Macrae. All three midfielders have been in great form and continue to put pressure on those in the senior side for AFL selection.

Co-captains Lachlan Tardew and Campbell Hustwaite will lead their side once again. The duo have a fantastic relationship both on and off the field, and that has reflected perfectly in their ability to bring success to this VFL team. Tardew is looking at his 5th consecutive game with over 20 disposals, while Hustwaite has found more midfield minutes recently and has shown his ability to win the contested footy while also being damaging on the outside.

The forward line was unstoppable last weekend, led by Liam McMahon who had his best game in the black and white. Will Kelly will play VFL again this week despite being untouchable against Frankston with three goals. Jack Ginnivan also continues to impress, the small forward has kicked 3 goals twice in his last 3 games.

As always, the reliable backline of Anton Tohill, Tom Wilson, Isaac Chugg, Mark Keane, Trey Ruscoe and Callan Wellings will be rock solid.

Ruscoe has spent a majority of his time in the VFL this season developing his ability to play across half back. The tall timbers of Tohill, Wilson and Keane have been fantastic in preventing opposition key position players from getting an easy look at it. While Chuggy continues to get used to the intensity of senior football.
