Finlay Macrae is set to make his AFL debut this Friday night against West Coast.
The 19-year-old was selected by the Pies with pick No.19 in last year’s NAB AFL Draft from the Oakleigh Chargers. He is also the younger brother of Western Bulldogs star Jack Macrae.
Macrae was told the news by Nathan Buckley in front of teammates during Tuesday’s main training session.
The midfielder has impressed during the pre-season and has been a key performer in the VFL with great ball use and composure.

“Through our VFL practice matches and training over the last month his been really consistent," Buckley told the media on Tuesday.
“He was leaning in against Paddy Dangerfield in the midfield last week which was a good heads up for him because there’s some strong bodies he’s going to have to contend with.
“He’s a natural-ball winner and he can play through the midfield and forward for us so it’s a great reward for good form."
