Aliesha Newman will return to Collingwood’s side for Sunday’s Indigenous round game against Melbourne.

The speedy forward has worked her way back into the side having been omitted from the Pies' round four team who claimed a 20-point victory over North Melbourne last Saturday night.

She replaces midfielder Sarah Rowe, who sustained an injury to her shoulder during last week’s match. The Irish cross-coder is set to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks.

Sunday will also be the first occasion Newman will come face-to-face with her former side.

Abbi Moloney and Kristy Stratton have been named emergencies for the match.

INDIGENOUS ROUND

For the inaugural AFL Women's Indigenous Round, the Pies will wear their Indigenous guernsey which highlights the Yorta Yorta culture, was designed by Ross Morgan Senior and his sons.

The story behind the design comes from the the Cummeragunja Walk Off, which was a protest by Aboriginal people at Cummeragunja Station. It is remembered as an act of strength and resilience.

The side has worn the jumper for its away games this season.

Collingwood's very own Aliesha Newman has also designed the official AFLW Indigenous logo for the round.
