In episode five of 'Coffee with Braz', Ash Brazill is joined by Collingwood AFLW co-captain Brianna Davey.
Coffee Order: Skinning Cap / ¾ latte
Davey’s sporting story is very unique.
At just 13-years-old she was spotted by a soccer scout while kicking the ball at a holiday park with her family – a moment that would change her life forever.
Two years later, she found herself playing for Melbourne Victory before getting a call up to represent Australia on one the world's biggest sporting stages playing for the Matildas.
Then at 17-years-old, she made the move to Sweden which she says was an important step in her self-discovery and helped her better understand herself as a person.
As a goal keeper, Davey talks about the unique role and responsibility this position has and the specific training required.
But Davey made the decision to return to her roots of AFL back in 2017 where she was given the opportunity to play and lead out Carlton in the inaugural AFLW match.
Captaining the Pies’ biggest rivals being the Blues, she transitioned over to the Pies at the end of the 2019 season.
Admired as an outstanding athlete who brings elite standards, off the field, Davey is also known for being a genuine, caring and inspirational person.
