Grand Final ballot FAQs

Grand Final ticketing registrations can be done via the Ticketek website (ticketek.com.au), or by calling 1300 796 939, during individual registrations times. The ballot will be drawn automatically by Ticketek in the week leading up to the Grand Final.  

Please find further information regarding the ballot registration process below. Members within the specific priority groups will be contacted via mail, email and SMS regarding their individual registration timings. 

Which membership types can register for a Grand Final ticket?
If Collingwood is to compete in the Grand Final, selected membership types have access to register to purchase a ticket, based on the below priority groups. Each priority group has a specific registration time.

Priority 1*
Membership types: 50+ Year Members, Club 5, Legends
Registration time: 8am – 11am on Thursday 20 September

Priority 2
Membership types: 25+ Year Members, Social Club, Captains
Registration time: 12pm – 3pm on Thursday 20 September

Priority 3
Membership types: Flexi Member, Reserved Seat, General Admission (excluding four-game and Triple Treat memberships) and Social Club Add-On
Registration time: 4pm – 9pm on Thursday 20 September

How do I register for a Grand Final ticket?  
Grand Final ticketing registrations can be completed via ticketek.com.au or by calling 1300 796 939. Registrations can only be completed within the specified priority windows outline above.    

Eligible members must register via Ticketek, should they wish to purchase a Grand Final ticket.

If Collingwood progresses to the Grand Final, Ticketek would use an automated system to randomly allocate tickets to members within the Priority 1 group who have registered. After this, Ticketek will randomly allocate the remaining tickets among Priority 2 and then Priority 3 members (subject to availability).

Members are required to use a credit card to register. However, this will only be charged should the entry in the ballot be successful. Please ensure sufficient funds for all tickets are available on the nominated card. There will be no follow up on any rejected credit cards once the ballot has been run. If credit card payment fail to process, tickets will be reallocated to another eligible member(s).

If Collingwood does not qualify for the Grand Final, registered members will not be charged for tickets however the $6.00 registration fee (per member) will be retained to cover administration costs incurred.

Can I sit with other eligible members?
To sit with other eligible Collingwood members, you must register together. If you wish to register with members in a different priority group to you, then you will need to do this in the latest priority group available.

For example, if you are allocated in Priority 1, and wish to sit with another member who is eligible in the Priority 2 group, you must both register together within the Priority 2 window.

Grand Final accessibility and Companion Cards
Members requiring an accessible seat, wheelchair position or who hold a Companion Card will be contacted to complete a registration form prior to Wednesday 6 September.

If you have not been contacted prior to this date and require access to a wheelchair space, accessible seat or hold a Companion Card due to medical reasons please call the Membership Services department on team on 1300 MAGPIE (1300 62 47 43).

A medical certificate may need to be provided with the registration form for members who are not already registered with the club.

*Any 50+ Year Member, Club 5 member or Legends Member who do not register in the designated time frame or instead elect to register within the Priority 2 or Priority 3 time frame will have waived their right to a guaranteed ticket. It does not matter what time you register during the designated timeframe as all registrations will be randomised to determine the order in which tickets will be allocated.

Reselling Tickets
The Victorian Government have declared the 2018 Toyota AFL Finals Series matches held in Victoria as major events under the Major Events Act 2009 (VIC). 

The declaration will make it an offence to resell tickets or advertise tickets for resale for more than 10% above face value, to Toyota AFL Finals Series matches held in Victoria.

The government will have authorised ticketing officers that will monitor resale sites and enforce the legislation where possible.

Tickets may not, without the prior written consent of the ticket agent and the AFL, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via on-line auction sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services, either by the original purchaser or any subsequent bearer. If a ticket is sold or used in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without a refund and the bearer of the ticket may be refused admission. 

Scalping warning: In addition, the resale of tickets in certain circumstances is governed by ticket sales legislation and may attract criminal penalties.

The AFL Grand Final is a Declared Event under the provisions of the Major Events Act (Vic) 2009, a breach of which may be an indictable offence and allows your ticket to be cancelled.

The AFL proposes that tickets to the 2018 Toyota AFL Grand Final will be allocated in approximately the following manner:

1. The configuration of the ground may change which could affect the split of tickets between AFL Members, MCC Reserve and Competing Club Members;
2. The number of standing room tickets to be made available will vary depending upon a variety of issues;
3. A substantial number of ‘walk ups’ (50%) in the MCC Reserve
