Collingwood and Hawthorn have agreed to a deal that will see wingman Tom Phillips move to Waverley in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2020 national draft.
Collingwood has received pick 65 in next month’s draft for Phillips, who played 89 matches across five seasons in black and white.
The 24 year-old played his best football on a wing – he finished sixth in the Copeland Trophy count in 2018 and seventh in 2019 – but played primarily as a small forward in 2020 due to the emergence of Josh Daicos and the evolution of a new mid-field group.
“Tom was a very serviceable player for us, as a late selection out of the 2015 draft. His endurance is exceptional but the complexion of the side changed this year and the opportunity to return to the wing with Hawthorn was enticing. We wish Tom well,” Collingwood list manager, Ned Guy, said.
