Collingwood has appointed Damian Carroll to the position of Head of Academy, with responsibility for overseeing the club’s development programs.

Carroll succeeds Hayden Skipworth who was recently appointed to Nathan Buckley’s AFL coaching panel as an assistant.

Carroll will arrive at Collingwood after a decade at Hawthorn where he coached Box Hill to a VFL premiership in 2013, served as an assistant to Alastair Clarkson in the premiership year of 2015 and most recently was Head of Development and Learning.

Collingwood GM of Football, Geoff Walsh, said Carroll’s breadth of experience, extensive background in education and proven record of developing young players will be a certain asset in 2021.

“We are very pleased to bring Damian into our program,” Walsh said.

“He is a multi-skilled, experienced football person who has developed and nurtured a lot of good footballers through a career that began in education and has moved through the TAC Cup, VFL and AFL systems.

“We look forward to him joining us to build on the fine work Hayden did this year.”
