When completed, the Magpies will enjoy new elite training facilities including hydrotherapy pools, an extended sprung floor training zone and interactive AV screen, a 50-metre indoor running track, mezzanine aerobic training platform, an altitude training room and a 25-metre, four-lane, split level swimming pool.
Meanwhile, facilities at the Community Centre, to be housed at Olympic Park, will include public access to the netball training court and Westpac Centre training facilities, change rooms for amateur football clubs and other users, a 150-seat presentation theatre for schools, clubs and community group programs and a health, wellness and fitness centre, which incorporates consulting rooms and a testing lab.
The Community Centre will be a new, split level sports, events and training complex connected to Collingwood's training base at the Westpac Centre and built next to the MCG-sized sports oval being developed on the Olympic Park site.
“The project is on track and is something we are very proud of,” Collingwood's Director of Stadia and Community David Emerson said in October.
“We see that it will make a substantial contribution to the precinct and the life of many people in this city, a vision that the Federal Government and the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust shares.”
