Scans have revealed that Collingwood defender Nathan Brown has suffered a strained medial ligament in his left knee.

He is expected to be sidelined for 2-4 weeks.

Brown, 23, suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Magpies’ victory in Brisbane on Saturday night. He was substituted out of the game just prior to half time.

"It's pretty good news really, the scans showed there is a moderate strain to his medial ligament on his left knee", director of football Geoff Walsh told the media on Monday morning.

"It's an excellent result and he might miss anywhere between two and four."

The 2010 premiership player  started the season in the VFL and returned to the AFL team on ANZAC Day after missing the entire 2011 season due to two knee injuries. He played the last three matches at AFL level.

Walsh provided an update on several other Magpies who have been under an injury cloud.

Dale Thomas will be available for selection for Friday night's game against Geelong after missing the last four matches with a hamstring injury.

"He (Thomas) will train tomorrow, which will be our main session.  He will play.

Veterans Chris Tarrant and Darren Jolly will both be available this week with Tarrant injuring his calf in round one and Jolly missing the last two weeks with a groin injury.

"Taz has missed since round three but he was pretty close last week so he will resume in the VFL and Jols will be available to play."
