Toovey, Lachlan Keeffe and Alex Fasolo are in the squad that will be trimmed to 22 on Friday afternoon. At this stage all players from last week’s win over Adelaide are in contention to play.
Premiership defender Toovey returns after missing one match with chest bruising suffered when he courageously ran back with the flight of the ball in the round eight game against Geelong.
Keeffe, meanwhile, has been named as an emergency on a number of occasions this season. He is a 204-centimetre 21-year-old from Gympie in Queensland, who was elevated to the senior list for this season after one year on the rookie list. He impressed playing as a key defender in the Magpies’ triumphant NAB Cup campaign earlier this year.
Fasolo, 18, is a strong-bodied midfielder from East Fremantle in Western Australia, who showed during the NAB Cup that he is capable of winning his own ball and kicking a long running goal.
As the club’s first overall pick (selection 45 overall) in last year’s draft, Fasolo was given the famous number 35 guernsey previously worn by Magpie greats Simon Prestigiacomo and Peter Daicos.
21-year-old midfielder Dayne Beams will play his 50th game on Sunday against the Eagles. Beams, recruited from Southport in Queensland, debuted in round two of the 2009 season, and played in the 2010 premiership side.
The Eagles are coming off a 123-point demolition of the Western Bulldogs, and are one of the in-form teams in the competition. They have made no changes at this point and have included Brad Sheppard (18 games), Andrew Gaff (6) and Jacob Brennan (yet to debut) in their 25-man squad.
For the Magpies, veteran running defender Ben Johnson (back) remains on the sidelines but is expected to be available next week, while big men Leigh Brown (calf) and Darren Jolly (knee) are also a chance to return in round 11.
