The Western Bulldogs will want to give its skipper a win on his 350th milestone match. Collingwood will want revenge for its disappointing performance in round 22 last season. Magpie supporters will have to endure watching 14 AFL teams play before they can see their mighty club open its account for 2010.

Round two (Saturday 3 April - FOX): Collingwood v Melbourne, MCG (home), 2.10 pm
Last time these two sides played, Dean Bailey stated Collingwood was the best side his team faced all year. After “winning” back-to-back wooden spoons, Melbourne will want to prove themselves against a powerhouse club.

Another tough challenge in the first month of the season, Collingwood will have a fair idea where it stands as a premiership contender after Friday night. A strong first-half performance against the Saints in the qualifying final loss will want to be duplicated across four quarters.

Collingwood’s bogey side for the last few years, Hawthorn will come out blazing in 2010 after missing the finals the year after its premiership season.

After last year’s ANZAC Day debacle, there is no doubt Mick Malthouse will have his charges ready to go against a side which scraped into its first finals appearance since 2004.

Round six (Sunday 2 May - SEVEN): Carlton v Collingwood, MCG (away), 2.10 pm
Losing their Coleman medalist at the end of this year was not what Chris Judd would have expected when he signed with Carlton in 2008. Collingwood won’t be complaining as Darren Jolly looks to emulate his 42-hitout performance for his former club against the Blues in round 16 last year.

Round seven (Saturday 8 May - TEN): Collingwood v North Melbourne, MCG (home), 7.10 pm
New head coach Brad Scott gets his first chance to take the reins against Collingwood, a club he was stationed for three years as an assistant. While Scott might understand the inner-workings of his opponent, he will have to contend with a Nathan Buckley-led forward line.

Round eight (Friday 14 May - SEVEN): Fremantle v Collingwood, Subiaco (away), 6.40 pm
Collingwood will look to continue its unblemished 2009 interstate record after recording four wins from four contests. Fremantle captialised on its home field advantage recording five of its six wins at Subiaco last season.

Round nine (Friday 21 May - SEVEN): Collingwood v Geelong, MCG (home), 7.40 pm
Arguably the best team in the competition over the last three years, Geelong has built up a rivalry with Collingwood after eliminating the Magpies in the 2007 and 2009 preliminary finals. It was in exactly this round in 2008 when the Magpies shocked the AFL world smashing the then unbeaten Cats by 86 points.

Magpie supporters will be eagerly waiting to see how the defence handles the Brown and Fevola duo. A consecutive appearance on the Friday night stage, the Magpies will test their bodies in their second interstate match in the last month.

The traditional Queen’s Birthday match is always an exciting contest. Jack Watts will be expecting another gang-tackle ala 2009.

Round 13 (Saturday 26 June - TEN): Sydney v Collingwood, ANZ Stadium (away), 7.10 pm
The Magpies treat this ground as their own, successful in the last four contests in Sydney. Collingwood should be fresh after coming off a bye weekend.
