Collingwood has been forced to make three changes to its team for Sunday’s annual clash for the Robert Rose Cup with the Western Bulldogs at Telstra Dome.
Due to Travis Cloke’s suspension, and injuries to Josh Fraser and Leon Davis, the Magpies have had to brought in Tyson Goldsack, Cameron Wood and Alan Toovey into the final 22.
Key forward Anthony Rocca is one of the three emergencies, along with young midfielders Ryan Cook and Danny Stanley, who were all named in the initial squad of 25 on Thursday evening.
Cloke accepted the match review panel’s offer of a one-game sanction for striking Carlton’s Michael Jamison in round 12, while Fraser has been carrying a knee injury sustained in the Hall of Fame Tribute match back on May 10 and has been ruled out of Sunday’s game, and Davis has succumbed to an ankle problem that has been curtailing him for a number of weeks.
Both Fraser (knee) and Davis (ankle) are considered a chance to return to the side for the clash against Sydney in round 14, following the split round break. Both have been carrying their injuries for a number of weeks.
Of the players returning to the side, Wood, 21, last played in the round eight triumph over the Saints after playing the first eight matches of the season, and since has been furthering his development at VFL level.
Goldsack, the club’s best first-year player in 2007, played five of the first seven games before spending some time in the VFL and overcoming injury.
Toovey recently returned to the VFL team after injuring recovering from a shoulder injury. He has played two AFL games this season (rounds three and four) for a career total of 12 after making his debut in 2007.
