‘The Beaks’ - Travis Cloke, Cameron Wood, Tyson Goldsack and Alan Toovey - and the club’s own American Pie, Shae McNamara, presented the cast members with their own personalised Collingwood jumper baring their name and one of the player’s numbers.
The opportunity to meet the cast members had special relevance for McNamara who was born in Wisconsin in the United States and only moved to Australia to play Australian Football in 2009.
McNamara spoke to Chris Klein, known in the movie as Chris ‘Oz’ Ostericher, and canvassed the actor’s thoughts on the Australian game.
“The thing that’s great about Aussie Rules is that it keeps going,” Klein told McNamara.
“It never stops…and you get the hits, people jumping on people’s heads. It’s bananas!”
Even wannabee Magpie Strauchanie managed to meet the cast, although the actors must have needed a double take to make sure he wasn’t actually a footballer.
