Tarkyn Lockyer and Travis Cloke are the two Collingwood players nominated for the 2007 AFL Players' Association Most Valuable Player Award.

The AFLPA takes great honour in announcing the names of two players from each club, who have been nominated by their team mates, as worthy to be considered to receive one of AFL football’s most prestigious awards - The Leigh Matthews Trophy for Most Valuable Player.

The winner of the AFL player selected Leigh Matthews Trophy will be announced at the 2007 AFLPA Most Valuable Player awards, on Grand Final eve, Friday September 28th at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt and will be broadcast live & exclusive on Fox Sports.

Since the inception of the AFLPA MVP back in 1982, only one Magpie has won the award, that was Darren Millane in 1990 (see all winners below).

A number of other awards will be presented on the night, with Collingwood players Nick Maxwell (Robert Rose award for Most Courageous Player) and Tyson Goldsack (Best First Year Player) in the running. Find out more below.

The AFL Players’ Association Most Valuable Player awards remain the only AFL playing awards determined by AFL footballers. This year, over 600 AFL players nominated and selected those amongst their peers worthy of special recognition across a number of categories, including;
