Good to be back: Goldsack
Collingwood defender Tyson Goldsack was happy with the form he showed in his return to the senior side on Saturday night
Battling a virus during the preseason competition forced Tyson Goldsack out of the senior side at the start of the year, but after several months of hard work the 23-year-old earned a recall when Nick Maxwell went down with a calf injury.
Goldsack was included in the 22 for the Sydney contest, a side he has previously shined against recording a career high in disposals (25 in round 21, 2007) and tackles (nine in round 21, 2008).??
“It was good to be back in the side,” Goldsack told CTV in the rooms after the 25-point win.??
“The year has been a bit up and down to say the least. To finally break into the team was a really good feeling after a long spell. The next phase is to play my role well enough to hold my spot.”??
VFL head coach Gavin Brown hinted to Goldsack’s elevation earlier in the week, praising the defender’s form in the VFL mid-season review.??
“His form has been exceptional (and) he is a fair chance at being recalled at any stage. He looks quick and sharp and his skills have been fantastic. He is ready to go and jumping out of his skin.”??

Selected by the club with pick 63 overall in the 2006 draft, Goldsack played 17 games in his first season and has since had to battle for a spot in one of the best backlines in the competition.??
“With Nick Maxwell out, to have Heath Shaw, Harry O’Brien and Presti back there makes it so much easier. And Alan Toovey you can’t knock him either, he is one of the mainstayers. We all get on so well so it’s easy for me to come in and play my role.”??
The win puts the club two points behind Geelong and St Kilda and firmly entrenches the side in the top four.?

“There are good signs and we are only half way through the year.
“To be two points off it and in the top four is where you want to be. If we keep going the way we have been going, it will be happy days I think.”
