VETERAN Collingwood forward Anthony Rocca will have to earn a return to senior football, says assistant coach Brad Scott.

Rocca, who turned 32 on Saturday, has played the last three games in the VFL after his latest comeback from a persistent ankle injury.

He has kicked three goals across the three games, his longest consecutive streak of matches at any level this year.

Scott said Rocca, who has played 241 career games for 413 goals, would not be recalled based purely on his experience.

"No one is an automatic return; they've got to be in form," he said.

"We're in a fortunate position where we've got a very healthy list, and so we'll pick players on form.

"It's always a good problem to have at match committee, to have players available.

"Anthony has got an opportunity at VFL level, and we'll pick the side on its merits.

"If he's fit and available and playing really good footy, then we'll have a problem at match committee.

"The balance is working well at the moment, but Anthony is a quality player and I know he still strikes fear into the opposition, so if he's up and available and playing very good footy, then he'll press his case and we'll have to make that call."

Scott agreed Collingwood's existing forward structure was working well, as was displayed on Saturday when it had 13 individual goal-kickers.

"We don't have your 100-goal type forward. We have a very even spread and we share the load through the ruck, forward and midfield," he said.

"We have a variety of players going through there, so when we're playing our best footy we do get a variety of goal-kickers and that was a pleasing aspect of today."

Scott also said ruckman Josh Fraser would not be included in the senior side until he was 100 per cent fit following a five-week knee injury.

"Josh hasn't played yet. He trained strongly during the week but we'll have to make that call," he said.

"He's our number one ruckman, there's no doubt about that. Josh will come back in when he's fully fit."

Scott said the Magpies escaped Saturday's game with a clean bill of health, with Sharrod Wellingham the only minor concern after being troubled by cramp late in the game.
