Collingwood gave its percentage a healthy kick when it beat the Gold Coast Suns by 97-points at the MCG in front of 36,913 fans on Sunday evening.

In its only Sunday twilight game of the season, the Magpies put the pedal to the metal in the middle two quarters, kicking 13 goals to the Suns' two to establish an 80-point buffer at the final change.

Four players shared the spoils in front of goal, with Dale Thomas, Jamie Elliott, Ben Sinclair and Travis Cloke each bagging three. Thomas and Dayne Beams showed the way in the midfield with 32 disposals and Alan Didak continued to hint at some of his very best form with 29 touches and two trademark goals.

Clokey goes clunk.

It takes two to tango, but only one will kick a goal...

Hearts fluttered as Scott Pendlebury grabbed his knee after a collision in the first quarter. He still returned to gather 17 disposals before half time, as you do...

The last time Andrew McQualter was on the MCG at the same time as Jarryd Blair, it was October 2, 2010. He was playing in his third Grand Final in a St Kilda jumper, where as Blair collected a premiership medallion in only his 12th match. Who'd have thought they'd next meet with McQualter wearing the No. 51 for Gold Coast in mid-2012? Funny game, footy.

The hands can't hit what the eyes can't see.

Nathan Buckley now has an 80 per cent winning record as senior coach.

Remember these two? They played a combined total of 12 games for Collingwood between 2006-2009 and are now key components of the Suns' senior line up. Sam Iles and Danny Stanley returned to the MCG to face their old teammates on Sunday night.

The big men really DO fly.

Dale Thomas looks like he's just spotted a UFO flying over Jolimont.

Five goals were kicked off the boots of these two gentlemen in the black and white.

Dale Thomas grew up in Drouin, Gary Ablett Senior's home town, and idolised the Geelong legend. Wonder if he ever imagined he'd go head to head with his hero's son one day...

Dayne Beams has shouldered much of the load in the midfield in the absence of Luke Ball, but this is taking it a step too far.

Swooping season - don't turn your back when the Magpies attack.

Two key members of Collingwood's 8-2 start to 2012: Steele Sidebottom and Ben Sinclair.

When the forwards are high-fiving and Dids has the ball on the string, you know the replay will be worth watching...

...but that said, the forwards didn't have it all their own way as Cloke and Dawes can attest.

The cream - Harry O'Brien and Scott Pendlebury.

A job well done.

Side by Side we sing together. Collingwood victorious for the seventh time in succession. A buoyant Melbourne awaits the mighty Pies in seven days time on the Queen's Birthday.
