Collingwood deputy vice-captain Ben Johnson is free to take on Melbourne after accepting a reprimand for striking Richmond's Daniel Jackson during the second quarter of last Friday night's round 18 clash at the MCG.

Johnson was offered a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea, with the club confirming on Tuesday morning that the 26-year-old has accepted the match review panel's finding.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

Johnson had an existing five-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 93.75 points and a reprimand. An early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to 70.31 points and a reprimand.

The match day report laid against Johnson and Jackson for wrestling following the striking incident was thrown out by the AFL tribunal on Monday. It was deemed the players were only briefly on the ground and separated quickly after the umpire spoke to them.

Johnson, twice a runner-up in the club’s Copeland Trophy voting, has played every game but one in season 2007 for a career total of 154.
