Didak a chance
Collingwood has refused to rule Alan Didak out of Friday night's Preliminary Final.
Didak is believed to be suffering from a sore calf and joins Chris Dawes (knee) as the two Magpies under injury clouds ahead of the clash at ANZ Stadium.
Both players are poised to be named and will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness after arriving in Sydney on Thursday evening.
"We haven't ruled [Didak] out at this stage," Collingwood director of football Geoff Walsh told AFL.com.au on Wednesday afternoon.
Dawes trains strongly at Gosch's Paddock.
"He did some work indoors and he's following a program that the doctors and physios have set so we'll see how that progresses before any deadlines.
"He obviously didn't take to the track but we'll give him every chance to prove in the next 48 hours that he's going to be available and time will tell there."
It initially appeared as though Dawes was more in doubt than Didak, given the way he struggled to move both post injury and at recovery on Tuesday.
Great photos from this morning's session.
The 24-year-old strained the medial ligament in his right knee and suffered bone bruising when his leg buckled under the weight of a player in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's win over West Coast at the MCG.
He struggled to run out the game and looked unconvincing at the Pies' Tuesday session at the St Kilda Sea Baths.
But on Wednesday, he trained strongly; marked overhead, ran freely and led well, and tested out his agility in a brief one on one session with coach Nathan Buckley towards the end of the hit-out.
While it was too early to assess how Dawes had pulled up from the session, the fact he was able to train the way he did pleased the Pies.
"It was pretty much part of the plan. The docs and physios all thought that's how he'd progress and pleasingly he was able to get through all of that," Walsh said.
"We're glad what was put in place for him, he was able to achieve.
"He did train well and it was all according to plan at this stage."
Today at the Westpac Centre.
The Pies will fly to Sydney late on Thursday afternoon after attending former teammate John McCarthy's funeral in the coastal Victorian town of Sorrento.
They will spread out across two buses for the trip, which will take about four hours return, and will travel to the airport afterwards.
