The Endeavour Hills Football Club became the latest club to take part in an Elite Training Session at Westpac Centre when they arrived at Collingwood’s headquarters last Wednesday.

Fifty of their players came down to enjoy a night of elite indoor training, using facilities such as the change rooms, pools, baths, spas, gymnasium and sprung floor.

“The opportunity for our playing group to train in such an elite, state of the art facility was amazing,” senior coach Michael Roberts said afterwards.

“To visit the inner sanctum of one of the world’s great sporting clubs was a once in a lifetime opportunity which all players appreciated.

“One player even said “you can smell the success””.

Running around the Westpac Centre has certainly changed the way the squad approaches training and their personal preparation.

The Southern Football League club is only in its second year and currently sits in eighth place with three wins and nine losses. They have a strong youth policy, with 70 per cent of their players returning birth certificates stating that they are under the age of 23.

In addition, six players from Mossgiel Park Junior Football Club under-16s attended the evening further demonstrating the strong link the senior club has with its junior affiliates.

All players and coaches said they enjoyed the session and would recommend to any coach or club to take full advantage of this unique opportunity, which can only improve individual performance and team commitment.
