Collingwoodfc.com.au has selected several key categories to rate the Magpie side against the rest of the competition while also comparing the 2010 numbers to 2009.?
Key findings
Collingwood’s hardness around the footy has improved this year with the club ranking first in the competition with total contested possessions (1639), an improvement of five spots from 2009.??
The club’s tackle count has also improved with the Magpies notching 92 more tackles than this time last year, an increase of 11%. Collingwood is in third position on the overall tackle leader board and has three players who feature inside the top 20 in the league (Luke Ball - 16th, Scott Pendlebury - 17th and Dane Swan - t-20th)
With Travis Cloke leading the way for the club in contested marks (third in the AFL), Collingwood ranks second overall with 157 contested grabs, an improvement of six spots and 26% up from last year.
The biggest slide, however, has been in total marks with the side taking 159 less marks than this time last year, the 13th most in the competition.
Collingwood has played 31 players after 12 rounds, four less than this time last year while the club is the only team not to feature a debutant.
