Collingwood’s annual Christmas luncheon for the homeless and disadvantaged will be held in a Grand Marquee on the arena at Victoria Park on Christmas Day again this year from noon until 2pm.

Collingwood Football Club President Eddie McGuire said the event has become one of the club’s great traditions.

“For the past thirty years Collingwood has hosted a special event on Christmas Day.

“Our club has a proud history of support for the community at Victoria Park and the luncheon has become a wonderful tradition at Collingwood. It is a great privilege for our club to host some of Melbourne’s most vulnerable people and celebrate Christmas together.”

The luncheon is also supported by Collingwood’s Magpie Nest Housing Project which is operated in partnership with the Salvation Army Project 614 Team. Magpie Nest provides accommodation and case management support for the homeless and disadvantaged.

Collingwood Football Club President Eddie McGuire will host the luncheon and more than 300 people will attend along with more than 30 volunteers. Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and Melburnian of the Year Brendan Nottle will also be in attendance.

This year the luncheon is being sponsored by leading Melbourne caterers, The Big Group, which will be providing a traditional Christmas lunch.
