A lot can happen in the space of one month. Just ask Matthew Scharenberg.

The South Australian youngster has gone from living at home with his parents and brothers and training with SANFL club Glenelg to living with All-Australian centre half forward Travis Cloke and training alongside some of the biggest names in the AFL at the Westpac Centre.

Naturally, the process has been a bit of a headspin for the polite utility who has begun to find his bearings alongside his fellow draftees.

"It's been pretty full on so far,” Scharenberg admitted to CTV.

“It's been a fair bit to get my head around in a way. I'm really enjoying it at the same time so it's great to be here.”

Foot injuries have prevented Scharenberg from joining in full training in his first month but he is confident that he will link up with the main group in the new year.

“Pre-season's going really well at the moment.

“I'm off my feet at the moment due to foot injuries but I'm really looking forward to getting into full training with the boys in the new year.”

“At the moment I'm just working with the rehab staff at the club just to basically prepare myself the best that I can so that when the time comes I'm ready to go and get back out on the track with the other boys. That includes stuff like cross training and I'm still in the gym, doing weights and that sort of thing.”

One big upside of moving to Melbourne and joining the Magpies is his new 196-game housemate.

“I'm lucky enough to be staying with Travis Cloke at the moment.

“He's been really good for me, helping me settle in and show me around Melbourne and that sort of thing.

“It's been really enjoyable so far and I'm really grateful.”
