Collingwood's New Year has been bolstered by the continued recovery of a host of its leading stars who have made significant progress after overcoming surgery and injury during the latter part of 2013.

With the off-season providing ample opportunity for players to address ongoing concerns, the assiduous dedication demonstrated by Collingwood's mended Magpies in recapturing their fitness has the side well placed heading into next month's series of NAB Challenge clashes.

Following the second training session of 2014, Director of Football Rodney Eade provided a rehabilitation update on the returning flock of black and white stars.

1. Alex Fasolo
"'Fas' is recovering from his navicular bone injury. He's made steady progress and we’re not fast tracking him at all. We're just going to take our time with it, but he’s ticked every box so far, so we’re pleased with his progress."

9. Martin Clarke
"Marty has progressed very quickly following his ankle reconstruction and is just about doing full running at the moment, and is on track to be available for NAB 1 (against Geelong)."

14. Clinton Young
"Clinton had a graded program until Christmas. He didn’t do anything, but that was part of his program. He's come in really good shape and has joined in full training now."

15. Jarrod Witts and 28. Ben Sinclair
"Jarrod and Ben are in the same boat. They both had shoulder reconstructions, and their recoveries are on schedule. They are three months post-op, and are not far away from joining in competitive work. They’re in line to be available for selection NAB 1 (Geelong) or NAB 2 (Richmond)."

16. Nathan Brown
"He had minor surgery post-season on his shoulder and knee. Nathan is another one who has been exemplary in his rehab. He did everything right before Christmas, rejoining the main group just before the break and has come back in really good shape."

34. Alan Toovey
"Alan is on track. As you'd imagine with Alan Toovey, he's done everything professionally, and is in contention to be available for round one of the season proper."

36. Dane Swan
"Dane underwent wrist surgery at the end of last season, and yesterday marked the first time he's touched the ball since then. He's been able to do running, and has come back in pretty good shape. He's looked the best he has in a long time."
