As an Eagles player for 11 seasons, the 29 year-old exercised his right as an unrestricted free agent to bring his career east to the Westpac Centre.
“So many things appealed to me about the move,” Lynch said after agreeing to a two-year deal to become a Magpie.

“It was exciting to think that I could play for the biggest club in the game and challenge myself at the same time to play a flexible role, which is what we have discussed. The idea of playing on the MCG every second week was really attractive, too.
“I’m a life member of West Coast and I’ll always think well of the club. So I hope everyone there understands that joining Collingwood was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. The chance to reinvigorate and extend my career in Melbourne, with Collingwood, I had to take.”

Lynch brings a fine record as a marking forward and relief ruckman with him to the Black and Whites. He has proven himself to be a consistent goal kicker, a strong presence in and around the forward 50 metre arc and an especially durable footballer who can assist the Collingwood attack and ruck division.
Runner-up in the West Coast best and fairest award in 2008, Lynch was the club’s leading goal kicker in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, with 65 and 52 goals respectively. He played 209 games across his 11 seasons as an Eagle and kicked 281 goals.
This year, he played 21 matches and on six occasions kicked three or more goals, including 3.0 against North Melbourne in the first Elimination Final.
Collingwood director of football, Geoff Walsh, said securing Lynch meant that coach Nathan Buckley ought to have a greater degree of flexibility, height and marking strength available to him in 2013.
“We’re extremely happy to have Quinten with us,” Walsh said.
“ Another strong-bodied marking target up forward will really suit the Collingwood game and Quinten can also play in the ruck. And we know very well how valuable a player is who can play those two roles.
“Quinten, with his manager Colin Young, presented a hunger for a new start with Collingwood. He was a good fit for us and keen. We think he will do very well.”
